but ruby loves you

you're not sick of seeing pictures of my dog yet are you? no, no.. you guys love ruby just as much as me. right? right. ah, excuse my lapse in ruby-confidence. because let's be honest, how could you not love that face? those eyes? i think it might just be impossible to not love her.





well, regardless of if you love or hate ruby (but they say if you haven't got anything nice to say, you just shouldn't say anything at all. and usually they say things like that for a reason.), sometimes ruby gets to be my subject so i can learn new tricks. tricks that benefit your eye balls. i know what you're thinking. unlike the old saying, it appears you can teach an old dog new tricks. that's what i'm here for folks. testing out old sayings, and what not. i'm pushing the envelope and i don't care who knows it.

by the way, i understand my dog looks completely terrified. but i can promise you that no animals were harmed in the making of these pictures. if anything i blinded myself during the process, so once again this blog comes at the cost of my own suffering - but you're worth it. you should also know that ruby totally got a treat afterwards, so really she is just a really great actress. i'm still waiting for the academy awards to notice...

some quality time with my nifty fifty

wow, guys... memory lane recently decided to pay me a visit and i sure wasn't mad about it. 

my 50mm was the first lens i got separate from my original kit lens, and it officially changed the way i saw things. watch out ya'll, things are getting deep over here. through my fifty, i fell in love with bokeh, and the dreamy quality it brings to photographs. oh man, talk about a dreamboat. it's such a wonderful lens for such a great price. i always recommend this lens to beginners because the quality is AMAZEBALLS (thanks guilana), yet you don't have to go pawn a bunch of your things to afford it. since getting this bad boy, i've upgraded my artillery to some pretty impressive 'arms of destruction' - as i like to call them, but my nifty fifty will always have a special place in my heart. i mean, look at how gorgeous it makes my pictures. it's been collecting dust in my bag for awhile, so i decided to bust it out and do a mini ruby shoot - and stalk my slightly overgrown yard (don't judge me). 

before i leave you with some of my photo-babies, it would be rude of me not to mention how adorable my dog is. how can something be so cute almost all the time?

merry christmas, happy hanukkah, happy holidays, and happy new year! much love from all of us. next thing you know it's going to be a brand new year full of brand new adventures. i can't wait! i mean obviously, why else would my christmas post come a few days early? i'm always a little bit sad when the holidays are over, but at least there is a brand new year to look forward to. i love a new year, because it gives us an opportunity to turn it all around. kind of forget whatever bad happened the past year and just start fresh. who can be mad about that? i am determined for 2012 to be the best year yet.


anywhoo.. so as usual, ruby and i could not resist pretending we were going to be america's next top model. i mean, we'd make the cut right? that being said, i think ruby would win this competition. and jake? well yeah i forced him to take this picture ;) he looks so cute though! i am hoping the new year brings us some snow! when it snows jake is so happy he doesn't even care that he's being photographed *fingers crossed* i think a vacation would suffice too..

be still my heart, it's a ruby tuesday!

awwww! hey look, it's my baby! is her face not one of the cutest faces you've ever seen? it's been pretty chilly the past few days (for houston, at least) and i've had a cold, so we've been all bundled up. i think it is just so adorable when she snuggles underneath blankets, and then looks at me with her cartoonish eyes. she just melts my little heart! her eyes have so much expression, she is the perfect model :)

i can't wait to share so many things with you guys! your eyes will be bombarded in january, especially. i'm just sayin. but i thought i'd share some photos of my pup since it's so quick and easy to share her cute little face with all of ya. other posts take a little more time away from all the editing i'm doing right now! but stay tuned, lots to see!

It's your time to shine, Rubystar

Well, well, well! I found myself with a little summer cold that, at first, didn't seem so bad. It seemed to come and go after two days, and I was back to feeling great and back to living life. Then it came back... and I was down and out for another two days. Then it seemed that all was well in the world again and then BAM! That sickness came right back, just not as cruel this time. Isn't that bizarre? I've never had a cold that came back twice like that! I'm still dealing with the tail end of it, so I thought with my little dog hanging around begging for my attention - what better time to give her a little photo shoot! It's been awhile since she's had the glamour of my camera lens, and though she may not look like she loves it, I know deep down she does :)

And just a fun tid-bit for you.. I love to create all kinds of fun little nick names for my dog Ruby. Does anyone else do that, or am I just crazy? Well fortunately for me Ruby's nick name trend has grown not only through me, but even some of my friends and family. Ruby is well loved in the Ellen-community. My favorite recent nick name that I came up with for Ruby is Ruben Scherbatsky. I dedicate that to all my fellow How I Met Your Mother fans out there!

my dog is seriously adorable

i just LOVE my little dog. she keeps me sane when i sit at home all day every single day editing my life way :) do you have pets? i'd love to hear about them! aren't animals just the best?!
